“Though doctors are seeing a spike in patients requesting non-invasive options, breast augmentation is still one of the most common surgical procedures, with 279,143 operations performed last year alone, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. The new technology and tools are allowing women to get implants faster, safer, and more natural-looking than ever before.”

About the Procedure
What is Breast Augmentation?

This surgical procedure enhances the size and shape of the breasts by inserting implants under or over the pectoral muscles. Breast augmentation can increase self-confidence, give you better figure proportion, and improve body image. Women report that clothes fit better, and they no longer feel self-conscious about their breast size and shape.

Breast augmentation can achieve several goals beyond increasing the size of your breasts and helping you to feel better about how you look. These goals include:

  • Breast Enhancement by adding volume to the small breast
  • Restoration of fullness and shape of breasts that have lost their shape or fullness due to pregnancy or the aging process
  • Improving the contour of the breast that are misshapen
Is Breast Augmentation Right for Me?

The desire for bigger breasts is as popular as ever! Candidates include women who feel their breasts are too small, women who have experienced a reduction in breast volume after pregnancy, when breasts often lose their original and youthful look and shape or women with breasts that do not match in size or shape. One drawback of breast augmentation is that you can’t be sure how your bigger breasts will look until after the surgery. It is really hard to make the proper decision without “trying on” breasts in real time. Dr. Danovich offers the temporary PRP solution-inflation of the breasts before undergoing implant surgery. “Try on” implants can help you to make right decision by setting up the real expectations in a way that computer imaging just can't mimic. It is an incredible and useful test-drive to see what your breasts would be like. This eliminates making a wrong decision regarding size and shape of the breast. “Luckily, SD 24hr Breast Augmentation is remodeling the whole process of breast augmentation, and in my opinion, we are doing a paramount job for your future. The key is to set realistic expectations and exceed them in the most unexpected and helpful way possible!” Svetlana Danovich MD.

Your surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia in a highly-specialized ambulatory/outpatient centers. Incisions can be made under the natural crease of the breast or around the areolas that surround the nipples-areola complex. Dr. Danovich generally places the implants under the muscle, using no-touch technique by utilizing a device called the Keller Funnel. Basically, it's a bag-type funnel that helps with placing a silicone implant into a much smaller incision or breast pocket than ever before. It's an advanced no-touch technique that significantly decreases the risk of contamination and offers our patients less risk of a capsular contraction or a scar pocket developing around the implant.

How Long Does Recovery Take?

One of the biggest pitfalls with breast augmentation is post-op pain management. Dr. Danovich’s quick recovery technique reduces the risk for inflammation and pain by injecting the Exparel, a non-narcotic numbing agent, into the surgical site. It's a numbing medicine in a honeycomb structure, and it dissolves and releases lidocaine for three days after the surgery; so there's a constant decrease in pain. It was noted that most patients feel comfortable returning to work within 2-3 days since we started using new pain control technique.

You will feel comfortable enough to resume your normal activities the day after surgery but should stay away from heavy lifting or running. Within two weeks you may resume your exercise routine.

Women who wish to increase the size of their breasts without breast implants may consider Fat Transfer by removing fat from another part of your body and use it to enhance size and contour of your breasts. Breast Lift Surgery (Mastopexy) is a attractive option for women who simply wish to recreate a youthful shape, projection, and symmetry without increasing their size. SD 24hr Breast Augmentation is 24-hour breast augmentation for special occasions: Valentine’s Day, Wedding, Birthday Party, etc. The Vampire Breast Lift® is a non-surgical alternative to create fuller, perkier cleavage. Your blood is drawn, spun, separated and the white part of the blood (Platelet-Rich Plasma) is reinjected back into the breast.

Q: How long should I wait to have sex after Breast Augmentation?
A: I tell my patients to wait at least 2 weeks in order to prevent any blood collection around the nipple (hematoma) due to significant increase in the blood pressure during sex. After 2 weeks, you should be very careful to avoid displacing the implant for 6 weeks.
Q: How much pain should I expect right after surgery and how will it be controlled?
A: Postoperative pain from breast augmentation is dependent on the positioning of the implant, whether it is placed above or below the muscle. Below the muscle is a much more painful procedure. At SD Medical Arts, we utilize highly effective methods of pain management, such as the pain pump, or injecting long acting local anesthestic at the completion of your procedure.
Q: Why are silicone implants more popular than saline?
A: Silicone gel implants look and feel more natural. “It feels more like a natural breast” as my patients would say. If you are interested in having natural results and avoiding visible or palpable rippling, silicone gel implants are a much better choice than saline implants.
Q: How long will I be in the hospital?
A: We do procedures at the ambulatory centers and not in the hospital. You should expect to be there 45 min to an hour after the completion of the surgery.
Q: Should I have a mammogram before or after surgery?
A: Mammograms are necessary for routine breast screening. You should continue with your regularly scheduled screenings as recommended by your physician.
