“Although the breast reduction actually treats or improves the symptoms, I consider this operation on the female breast to be an aesthetically artistic procedure in order to truly restore body image and significantly boost self-confidence in a woman. The most beautiful things we can experience are the source of true art and science,” says Svetlana M. Danovich MD
Women with breasts that are disproportionately large in comparison to the rest of their body can lead to a lot of emotional issues negatively impacting their lifestyle and the ability to work and exercise. As a female cosmetic surgical artist, Dr. Danovich will work with you to achieve a perfectly balanced figure emphasizing your feminine beauty.
Breast reduction surgery is a safe and effective way to reduce breast size for both cosmetic and physical reasons. Aesthetic goals are to reduce and reshape the breast with the nipple-areolar complex in the appropriate position with minimal risk of postoperative complications. Dr. Danovich puts a lot of emphasis not only on volume reduction but more so on improvement and maintenance of shape with minimization of scars.
Often, women with very large breasts suffer from debilitating back and shoulder pain. They may feel inhibited in their ability to participate in sports or other activities and fit comfortably into certain types of clothing. Whether you’re self-conscious about your breast size or you would like to have relief from the heavy weight of your large breasts, we definitely can help by utilizing a variety of techniques to re-sculpt your breasts the way you want. “My patient’s interests are ALWAYS my top priority,” says Svetlana M. Danovich MD – Cosmetic/Plastic Surgical artist.
How should I prepare for a breast reduction?
Blood-thinning medication and supplements such as aspirin, Advil®/Aleve® or ibuprofen, and Fish Oil & Vit. E must be avoided 7-10 days before and after surgery. Smoking cessation for at least 4 weeks before and after surgical intervention is fundamentally important for achieving a smooth recovery without any post-operative complications.
During the procedure, Dr. Danovich will remove excess breast tissue from the bottom and sides of the breast through a series of incisions. Once the desired size and shape are achieved, she will reconstruct the bottom portion of the breast and artistically position the nipple-areolar complex to achieve not only a lifted appearance but also divine, natural shape and feel to the breast.
How long does a breast reduction take?
Breast reduction surgery usually takes 3-4 hours on average.
You may resume exercise within 10-14 days of surgery.
Breast reduction surgery is a very safe procedure but cannot exclude minimal risks of infection, bleeding, and poor scarring.
Patients experiencing any concerning symptoms are advised to call Dr. Danovich’s cell phone promptly.
Your smaller, firmer, and perkier breasts will be noticeable immediately after surgery. As you heal, the shape and appearance of your breasts will continue to improve, you will experience increased comfort with physical activities, and you will enjoy the opportunity to explore a whole new wardrobe.

Q&A / QUESTIONS AND SD ANSWERS
Q: How much does breast reduction cost?
Q: How long does an average breast reduction surgery take?
A: A breast reduction typically requires between 3-5 hours in order to provide you with the most optimal results.
Q: How much pain will I experience after breast reduction surgery?
A: Most patients will find that the pain after a reduction is minimal but this will vary from patient to patient. Usually, we prescribe pain medications that will be more than adequate. Also, ice application after surgery is recommended for pain relief and reduction of swelling.
Q: How long is the recovery after breast reduction surgery?
A: Healing following breast reduction surgery is usually uneventful and takes about 2 to 3 weeks. Most women end up with an excellent final outcome. Not only does it improve the silhouette, but it can also minimize symptoms such as back and neck pain and make it easier to exercise.
Q: What is the criteria for a breast reduction to be medically necessary?
A: Each insurance company is different and, not surprisingly, it has become more difficult to get insurance companies to pay for this procedure. In general, they will cover the procedure if you can show that removing the indicated amount of tissue (500 grams or more) is going to alleviate specific symptoms which would include neck, back and shoulder pain, bra strap grooving, intertrigo (rashes underneath the breasts), and/or interfere with the ability to exercise or sleep comfortably.
