A: The process of pregnancy involves tremendous expansion of the abdomen leading to PERMANENT splitting (rectus) muscles and the overlying skin. Therefore, we advise patients to wait until after you are done having children because if you were to become pregnant again after the repair, much of the repair, if not all, will be stretched out and reversed by the pregnancy. Otherwise, having children after a tummy tuck is safe knowing that you may need a revision.

Tummy Tuck / Abdominoplasty
Are sit-ups and push-ups just not giving you the firm tummy you desire? If you've got a little too much excess fat along with loose or sagging skin in your abdomen that won't decrease with diet and exercise, you may want to consider an abdominoplasty, commonly known as a “tummy tuck.”
Throughout our lives, perhaps no other area of the body is subject to as many changes as the abdomen. Weight loss and gain, pregnancy, and other experiences can all take a negative impact on the skin, muscles, and other tissues of the midsection. Don’t let the left-behind abdominal skin get in the way of feeling like yourself again. It is imperative that you choose a Tummy Tuck surgeon who is highly qualified and skilled. With SD Designed Abdominoplasty you can achieve the figure you’ve always wanted in a matter of weeks to glorify the proportions of your body!
Abdominoplasty, or Tummy Tuck, is a cosmetic procedure that removes excess fat and sagging abdominal skin. It is a common body contouring procedure to flatten “stubborn belly fat” and reduce “love handles “after pregnancy and weight gain, and can have a significant effect on the abdominal area.
- Slim, tone, and reduce size of the abdomen by removing excess fat and overhanging skin
- Redesign protruding belly button and waist line to restore divine proportions of your body
We recommend abdominoplasty procedures for patients who have excess loose skin and fat that have become resistant to diet and exercise.
The goal of a Tummy Tuck is to restore and redesign the abdominal tissue to its unique youthful look. This means treating the whole abdominal area circumferentially. Dr. Svetlana M. Danovich typically uses the Lateral Tension Abdominoplasty technique, which restores the entire abdominal area to a tighter, slimmer, and more youthful appearance by using a bikini line or low incision.
What is the advantage of this technique? SD Designed Abdominoplasty utilizing Lateral Tension technique allows Dr. Danovich to: tighten the entirety of the abdominal area, even to the tops of the thighs, remove excess skin, perform liposuction to remove excess fat, tighten the abdominal muscles.
Abdominoplasty recovery varies from patient to patient. Most people take at least five days off from work, but others may need to take two or three weeks.
You will experience some bruising, swelling, and tenderness for at least a week. The final result of your surgery will be a new, flat, and tight stomach. Not only will you look amazing, you will also notice an immediate change in the way your clothes fit. In fact, it is not uncommon for patients to experience an additional weight loss of 10-25 pounds in the months following the procedure. Part of your recovery will be spent building a new wardrobe of your favorite clothing!
Complications following tummy tuck procedures are rare, but include infection, bleeding, wound separation or poor scarring.
Patients experiencing any concerning symptoms are advised to call Dr. Danovich’s cell phone promptly.
You will see the results of this surgical intervention immediately. After the procedure, a compression garment is applied and you may resume your normal daily routine in 2 weeks. For the most part, you should plan on taking 7-10 days off from work following the procedure. It takes 8-12 weeks to achieve the final results of your new and slimmer abdomen.
*results may vary from person to person
