“We are here to help you to achieve meaningful improvements in daily functioning, quality of life, and on-the-job productivity.” Svetlana M. Danovich MD
Hyperhidrosis is a medical condition that causes extreme sweating in different parts of the body which can be embarrassing, uncomfortable, dangerous, and disabling. It often interferes with a person's lifestyle, from professional to personal relationships, never excluding one’s self-confidence. It affects millions of people around the world (approximately 4.5-5% of the world’s population).
If you suffer from excessive sweating, please take some time to read through our information about all the treatments currently available for treating hyperhidrosis at SD Medical Arts. We think you'll feel optimistic again to fight this embarrassing problem.
Newer treatments, like Permanent Alma SweatX Treatment, and Temporary Botox®/Disport® Solution have started giving relief to those who never thought they’d find it.
Botox® is safe and effective treatment for hyperhidrosis with consistent results in the temporary cessation of the sweat glands' functioning.
BOTOX® (onabotulinumtoxinA) was FDA (the U.S. Food & Drug Administration) approved for the treatment of severe axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating under arms) in 2004 due to the ability temporarily "turning off" the body's sweat glands locally (at the area where it has been injected) without any interference with body thermoregulation and compensatory sweating (sweating on other body parts).
This treatment can be administered in the office within 10-15 minutes without any interference with your daily routine.
The procedure entails the injection of tiny amounts of Botox under the skin (sub dermally) in a grid pattern, approximately every 1 to 2 centimeters using the finest needle. We utilize a signature “numbing cream” (lidocaine cream), ice, or vibration analgesia to relieve any discomfort during the intervention. After you receive Botox® injections, it’s that you follow-up with your healthcare provider in 2 weeks to ensure that you are getting full benefit.
Alma SweatX has been successfully used to permanently eliminate underarm sweat glands and body odor in over 90% of patients by combining the selective power of dielectric heating with the precision of UniPolar Pro RF (Radio Frequency) technology – The Cutting-edge Dual-layer Thermotherapy. These waves strategically target the sweat glands, leading to permanent sweat reduction. For best results, four procedures spaced one week apart are recommended. Alma SweatX procedure is performed in the physician's office and typically takes 15-20 min to see immediate improvement. Patients usually experience little to no discomfort during the procedure and there is no downtime afterwards. You can return to your normal activities immediately following treatment.
Most patients are able to return to normal activities or work right after the procedures, and can typically resume exercise within 24 hours after the treatments.
Common and minor side effects of Botox®/Disport® and Alma SweatX Treatments include underarm swelling, redness, and tenderness lasting for several days without any interference with body thermoregulation and compensatory sweating (sweating on other body parts).
On average for hyperhidrosis patients, after four treatments with Alma SweatX treatment, sweat is PERMANENTLY reduced 90%.
Botox®/Disport® has been shown in an 82-87% decrease in sweating. Results start to be noticeable approximately 2 to 4 days after treatment with the full effects usually achieved within 2 weeks. Botulinum toxin injections do not cure hyperhidrosis; it has a temporary improvement of your symptoms at intervals varying from 7 to 16 months to maintain dryness.
Depending on where you live, the cost of Alma SweatX Treatment starts from $3,000 and as low as $1,800 for Botox®/Disport®.
There are more effective and safe treatment options for excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis) available besides RF and Botox®/Disport® Treatments such as
- miraDry (microwave technology)
- Oral Medications
- Thoracic Sympathectomy (Surgery- a last resort option)
